Melanogrammus Aeglefinus

Haddock is a highly popular, mild tasting fish that is both high in protein and packed full of essential vitamins- primarily B vitamins. They’re deep water fish typically found in the North Atlantic Ocean and makes up 60% of all seafood consumed in Britain. It’s classified as on the ‘Big Five’ alongside tuna, prawns, cod and salmon which makes Haddock a premium species with high commercial value.

Haddock is at its peak during the winter and spring, between November and April, as the cold water makes the flesh firmer and tastier. It’s a great alternative to Cod and Whiting and is one of the most popular choices in fish and chip shops all over the UK.

Haddock are demersal fish, which means they live and feed on and around the seabed. As a very versatile fish, Haddock can be enjoyed tossed in salads, in risottos, in pies, fish cakes, in curries and in a variety of other ways.
